About Us
Janta Sewa Samiti, established in the year 1990-91 as a non-profit, non-political voluntary organization working in Basti.Gonda,Srawasti.Balrampur &Sant Kabir Nagar with its headquarters at Basti U.P. The organization has been working for last 25 years for the welfare of and disadvantaged people of the community particularly Youth , Minority , women and children through various developmental programmes with the objectives to develop sustainable self-reliant community through their active participation in all our development efforts.The organization believes that the community has the ability to successfully tackle the forces that exploit them. Viewing development as a process of empowerment, it organizes groups and associations at the local level, which can gradually discharge the responsibilities of the regular functions and development activities on their own, thereby paving the way for the withdrawal of the organization
The main objectives of the organization is to work for the overall development of the deprived and disadvantaged communities irrespective of casts, creed and religion so that they may contribute positively and become part of development process. For achieving this objective, Janta Sewa Samiti has taken up several projects/ programmes through which disadvantaged/ vulnerable sections of the society, through their active involvement at all levels, could develop confidence and be able to manage their own affairs and in turn become self reliant and become part of developmental efforts.
Other Objectives of the organization
- To work on economic and social problems of the poor and underprivileged, particularly women artizans, by organizing them into community based groups,
- To Relief & Sustainable Work Of Disaster Related areas .
- To empower women and build capacities by providing information and knowledge regarding local self governance.
- To work for the welfare of poor and disadvantaged children including street children, orphanage etc. To mobilize women through training, networking and by providing institutional support to contest elections and bring about gender equity in local self-governance,
- To provide education for marginalized sections through formal and innovative non formal programmes.
- To provide heath service facilities and health and family life education to the poor and marginalized sections of the society.
- To increase awareness on environmental issues and to work for environment conservation.
Janta Sewa Samiti endeavors to seek social, economic-justice for deprived and weaker sections of the society and needy with an aim to build healthy society. It is also targeting at bringing about all social, economical and cultural development.
The Mission of the organization is to empower urban & rural poor and developing their skills and capacity, as a result of which they can play a meaningful role in society
The organization is actively working in the districts Basti, Gonda & Srawasti .Balrampur. Bahrich & Sant Kabir Nagar of the State of Uttar Pradesh has taken up various projects / programmes for providing income generation activities, capacity building trainings, educational, women empowerment, health related activities, community-led development programmes and networking of NGOs working in the related areas with special emphasis on weaker sections of rural ,urban & Disaster areas.
